I've been coming here with my family for the past 16 or so years. We've tried many similar getaways like this place but nothing compares. Long Lake itself is visually stunning and quiet compared to many of the other cottage lakes in Ontario, offering great fishing and boating to any outdoor enthusiast. The owners Tim and Phil are friendly and always willing to help with your canoeing/kayaking and cottage needs. Having spent time in almost all of the cabins I can say they're very well maintained and furnished with satellite TV to boot! So if you're looking for a little paradise off the beaten path I would highly recommend Long Lake Lodge.

I'd just advise a bit of patience when booking and when you arrive expect to take at least 30-45 minutes to get everything set up with your gear before you can start loading. Reservations recommended, I also recommend calling a few days ahead to confirm your reservation is correct as I've had a couple mistakes over the years.

We've been renting canoes from Long Lake Lodge for about 5 years to go camping in Kawartha Highlands PP. Great prices, comfortable Paluski poly canoes with mesh seats (but heavy!!), wooden paddles if you ask for them (and don't damage them!) They also allowed me to cancel my rentals for free last year when I called a couple days before to cancel.

I've just read the response from long lake lodge and some of the other reviews including the bad ones and just want to say to those who said the people were rude or what ever.....the guy I dealt with wasn't rude at all but wish he was before he sold me a canoe that leaks. You're lucky you didn't buy one. They have many canoes there but we only had the choice of two for obvious reasons.

Very slow service and extremely inefficient. Brought well behaved students here and it took us over an hour to get in the water. We are in the water within 20 minutes everywhere else. Plan ahead.

In response to my bad review someone from long lake lodge responded by offering to repare or take the canoe back but it's a 6 hour round trip. This could have been avoided all together if the half owner was just honest in the first place. It's a real shame really it is.

We drove 3 hours one way to buy a kevlar canoe from one of the owners named Phil. Had a look at the canoes, ( 2 Kevlar canoes were up for sale), when we arrived they looked decent enough with some minor ware and tear. I asked him if they leaked? He ensured me they did not. He was asking 1130 taxs included. I didn't even haggle for a better price. I soon found out the canoe did in fact leak and am here to warn you all not to trust these guys when buying a canoe. Go else where to spend your hard earned money. Should be a no star rating for this outfitter

Stayed for one night in Cougars Reach and had an absolutely lovely time. I wish i was able to stay for longer. The lake itself is very different from many others in the kawarthas and we had the perfect view of it from outside of our cottage. I will definitely be returning again!
